49er Fire Station

Nevada City, California

This new station is located on a 1-1/2 acre lot at the intersection of two major thoroughfares in Nevada County, State Highways 49 and 20. Its prominent location and proximity to historic Nevada City required its design to reflect the architectural flavor of this renovated Victorian gold rush community. The project includes a four-bay apparatus room housing five pieces of equipment, administrative offices, meeting/training room, four 3-bed dorms, living quarters, exercise room and maintenance shop. The station is staffed by paid and volunteer fire personnel, and will also function as the headquarters for the Fire District.
